“Sleepy Hollow was the perfect venue for the whimsical,
woodland, budget-conscious, DIY wedding of our dreams.”

Tatiana and Korey Rodecker tied the knot at their woodland fantasy inspired wedding at Sleepy Hollow Inn in June of 2024. The Round Barn and Pavilion were adorned with forest inspired decoration, including a mushroom covered cake, embroidered mushroom table centerpieces with moss teapots and a gorgeous floral backdrop. Their ceremony took place under the pavilion, with the sounds of rain pattering on the trees. It was a true celebration of love and nature with their friends and family.

Wedding invitation and little details

Tatiana and Korey’s love story started almost ten years ago, when the pair met playing ultimate frisbee during their first semester at Emmanuel College in the fall of 2015. A few months later they began dating and quickly fell in love. They spent their college years attending hot air balloon festivals in Southern Vermont and continued to play frisbee together. After college, they moved to Burlington so Tatiana could attend graduate school at UVM. Since their move to Vermont they have enjoyed exploring all of the many incredible dining spots that the state has to offer. In their free time together, they read, hike, bake and indoor rock climb. In December of 2021, they were enjoying a cup of hot cocoa in front of their Christmas tree when Korey asked Tatiana to marry him.

When it came to planning their wedding weekend, the couple was intentional about their guest experience. Tatiana, the bride and professional event coordinator, said “We knew most of our guest list would be traveling from out of state, so showcasing everything we love about Vermont was our top priority.”

They knew that the right venue would help bring their vision to life and set the stage for the entire celebration. After touring Sleepy Hollow, they felt like it was the perfect spot for their “woodsy Vermont wedding,” while still being close to Burlington, the airport and other accommodations for guests. They were also able to incorporate their own DIY decor, personal touches, and chose all their own vendors. Tatiana shared that “Sleepy Hollow was the perfect venue for the whimsical woodland, budget conscious, DIY wedding of our dreams.”

Table numbers

Everything about their celebration was a labor of love. Tatiana embroidered the table numbers and made the centerpieces, their best friend officiated, Korey’s mom made the napkins, Tatiana’s mom made their friendship bracelet favors, and her sister in law painted their invitations. The centerpiece on their sweetheart table was made from copies of their favorite book, Divine Rivals, by Rebecca Ross. And the ceremony featured a dice roll that chose their last name for them, spoiler, it’s Rodecker!

“Our favorite element was using the dice my Poppop gave Korey before he passed away to decide our last name: if the sum of the roll was even we were taking my name, if it was odd we were taking Korey’s. We revealed our name at the end of the ceremony with all of our friends and family to witness! We rolled a 7, which was serendipitous because 7 is my favorite number, our birthdays are in July, and the last year we saw my Poppop was 2017. So we are now the Rodeckers!”

“Our first look was such a beautiful way to center ourselves in the day after a busy morning getting ready, and before all the festivities truly kicked off. It gave us time to pause and be in the moment together.”

couple showered with flowers

Their day was marked by so many memorable moments including their first look and their grand entrance into the barn as their family and friends cheered and showered them with flower petals. Of course, they also loved watching everyone tear it up on the dance floor.

Mushroom Wedding Cake

Their cake from Sweet Simone’s was very on theme, adorned in adorable little mushrooms and moss. In addition to all of their wonderful dessert options, they also had homemade marshmallows and enjoyed making s’mores with their close friends by the fire before heading to bed at the inn.

Advice from the couple:

  1. “We highly recommend doing a “welcome drinks” the night before your wedding to get those personal interactions with a lot of your guests and it removes the pressure to see everyone on and during your wedding as there’s already so much happening.”
  2. “Pick a venue that you love in the rain. It was rainy on our wedding day and I knew we would still have the best day ever because we loved Sleepy Hollow’s scenery in every season, we knew the space could accommodate a beautiful ceremony and reception plan rain or shine.”
  3. “Trust your vendors, they know best and they want you to have the best day!”
